Prof. Evgeny Irshai, PhD. graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory in playing the piano and composition. He has been a member of the Union of Composers of Russia since 1979, a member of the Society of Slovak Composers since 1993, and an honorary member of the Union of Composers of the Ukraine since 2001. His awards: the Jan Levoslav Bella Prize for his work Hard-Shabes and the Deziderio Zador(UA) Prize for his work Sonata del grato, for clarinet and piano 2008. He is a laureate of the international competition Choral Laboratory of the XXI Century (St. Petersburg) 1st prize in the category Sacred Works on Latin Texts for the compositions Kyrie and Gloria (2013) and 3rd prize in the category Experiment for the composition Bu-li-du-li-bur-li-bam (2014).
He has been composing for commissions from leading Slovak and foreign soloists, such as: Milan Paľa (violin, Slovakia), Aleksander Gabryš (double bass, PL), Ján Kalinowski (cello, PL), Marek Szlezer (piano, PL), the French ensemble Aleph, the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, the orchestra of Kapella Sankt-Petersburg and others.
He published the monograph "On Some Problems of 20th Century Compositional Technique" in 2006 and the monograph "Waiting for Bach" in 2011.
