Eduard Douša

Eduard Douša was born in 1951. In his compositional work he is mainly devoted to instrumental works (e.g. 2 sonatas for piano, Sonata for organ, String Quartet "Lamentationes", Concertino per gioia for clarinet and orchestra, Concerto for trumpet and orchestra, Concerto for piano, Concerto for 4 saxophones and orchestra, etc.) From the vocal works we can mention the Cantata for baritone, recitation, choir and chamber orchestra "The Power of Thought" for the rector's inaugural speech of M. J. Hus at Charles University in 1409, the song cycle "Songs for the Godmother" or the melodramatic fresco Jan Žižka (2020). He also composed a number of children's chorals and instrumental pieces for children. In 2019, he received the annual prize of the Union of Czech Choirs for his cantata The Czech Sea on verses by Jiří Žáček. His compositions have been published on CDs and in print, e.g. by Bärenreiter, AP inc. (USA), W.G. Haas (Germany), Editio Rondo (the Czech Republic), Panton (the Czech Republic), Musica gioia.In 2021 two profile CDs (Návraty and Tóny klavíru) with his compositions were released.
