Albert Breier was born in Paderborn in 1961. He studied composition, piano, philosophy and musicology in Cologne, Hamburg, Lübeck and Vienna. He was strongly influenced by the music of Morton Feldman and by 15th century vocal polyphony. His compositional style is also modelled on classical Chinese landscape painting, about which he has written a book. His works include all genres except opera. They have been performed in many countries. Currently he is living in Berlin.
